What is internet and
how does it help in transfer files?
Hello Friends,
welcome to the Superbytes blog. Well here
I am gonna rip out the technology behind the internet. Before I start, I would
like you to have some time to imagine the old post office mail services which
is used to deliver a packet from one source to another destination. Here sender
or receiver never knows how many personal of post office touches your post to
check the destination address to ensure that it successful delivered on right
place.
The similar kind of
process used to delivered the your data or you can say digital information in
the form of bits from server to client side or vice versa.
Few devices
connected together making a network like an office and a college network and if
connected all those network by multiple ISP which becomes INTERNET.
Here you need to
understand what is bit ?
Bit is the smallest
unit that is defines the value present in a signal in 0-1 form. It could be an
electrical signal using Ethernet cables and it could be the light signal using
optical fibre or it could be a radio wave normally using in your WIFI.
So over all digital
data is transmitted from one place to another in 0-1 form it is called bit.
This combination of 0-1 used to make every letter, symbol, value present in you
msg or can say written on your letter including sender address and receiver address.
Now this address
information is written on every packet in 0-1 form, in computer language we
call it IP address. Every mobile, Bluetooth, smart tv in this world working on
this IP address.
IP address is used
to identify the address of source where it comes and the destination address
where it has to go. When it outs from its network and reach to the gateway
device contain the gateway IP of the network in which your device is using.
This gateway device could be your WIFI router, office router, telecom BTS
router. This device open the packet and read the destination address written in
the packet. This destination address is the IP address of the receiver.
Router check the
receiver IP address and take lookup in his routing table maintained by the
router and after successful lookup it forwarded it to the next hop router.
Similarly like when a post received in post office post man check its
destination pin code to filter the post according to the area.
From source to
destination there might be hundreds of
routers having their own database called routing tables. And knows where to
forward this packet. So finally your one packet reach your destination.
I know many people
will have doubt that how they can
transmitted multiple GB data with in couple of minutes. Yes it is true
nowadays we have high-end configuration routers running at ISP core to make
them capable to switch multiple of GB data within few minutes..
Thanks to the
technology which is making its more faster ever before.
Many Thanks !!
SS
Excellent work!!
